The Selfies@School Project & How to Enter

For our 2024 art contest, we are asking students to “take a selfie”, but not in the traditional way (no photographs or digitally altered images). We want students to create a picture of themselves in a school setting! It can be anyplace at school – in the classroom, lunchroom, at recess, studying, at a computer, playing a musical instrument, performing athletics, walking to school, etc. The selfies can be a life-like portrayal of themselves…or even a caricature.

Rules & Guidelines for Artwork Submissions

1. Entry must be original artwork created by the student, showcasing themselves in a school setting! Artwork cannot be a copy or reproduction of someone else’s work. No copyright material or images may be used.

2. Only one entry per student. The student artists must be a resident of and currently attending an elementary or secondary school in Michigan.

3. Your original artwork will not be required, please submit a digital picture of your creation.

  • Illustration should be drawn or sketched using pencils, crayons, markers, paint, or other similar materials on minimum 8.5” x 11” paper.
